Same footprint, rotated call-out. Automotive plants tend to write the 40 first because their pallet spec lists the stringer direction first — the box is identical to a 48×40×45.

Is 40" × 48" × 45" an inside or outside dimension?
Inside. Outside dimensions run roughly ½" to 1½" larger per side depending on wall count, which matters for racking and trailer fit but not for what you can put in the box.
